Actor Amruta Khanvilkar is one of the popular faces in both the Hindi and Marathi industries. She has done pivotal roles in movies like Raazi and Satyameva Jayate. Additionally, she garnered immense love and recognition for her Marathi movie Chandramukhi. Amidst all the success, Amruta faced some struggles during her career’s initial days. Speaking about the same, Amruta recalled the time when she was called ‘vernacular’ and people were not fond of the Marathi accent.

Amruta Khanvilkar on people’s perspective towards Marathi accent

When asked Amruta how she navigated despite not coming from a film background. She exclusively told Bollywood Bubble, “I think it starts with language. Since I’m a Maharashtrian lady, people were not fond of the Marathi accent. Even though they liked all the other accents, the Marathi accent was liked by all back then. People used to say a lot of things including vernacular. When I used to take multiple takes, anyone used to come up and teach me acting. But then you learn your ways on how to navigate and stuff.

Amruta has worked in both Hindi and Marathi film industries. On that note, she was asked to share the difference between the two industries. She said, “In the Marathi industry, people are like your family and you take them for granted sometimes and Bollywood is all about professionalism. However, there’s nothing different in set treatment, it’s the same in both industries. However, like in the Marathi industry, even if you meet the person 3-4 times, a friendship builds but that’s not the case in Bollywood.
